As a busy mom, I have definitely gotten to the end of the day and thought, “did I drink anything today??”

We lose track of time, or we just don’t want to stop what we’re doing and then we get beyond the thirsty point and just forget, right?

Since I became a health & fitness coach a little over a year ago, I realized how important water actually is to my body. I used to get heart palpitations a lot. I’ve had multiple cardiographs done and all have come back fine. Every time, my Dr. Told me, it was because I was dehydrated. But I felt fine!!

Or at least I thought so. When I started paying closer attention and began drinking about 70 ounces of water a day, it became clear. Not just my urine ( lol, that does happen too!)

I actually had more energy during the day. I didn’t over eat at meals, and (sorry TMI) I was actually going to the bathroom like a normal person!! Always with a child in the room, but I was going!

Fellow moms will understand what I mean by “going” 😜

So drink your water!! Add lemon, berries, mint, cucumber whatever makes it taste the best to you, but do it!!

I made this graphic for my coaching opportunity page on Facebook. After I posted it, I kept reading it over and over and am really in love with it!

This is what my Health & Fitness Business embodies! It’s my passion and I absolutely love watching people work toward and reach goals they didn’t think they could!

I don’t “sell” stuff. I offer FREE support to anyone who wants to get healthy. That’s it. If it ends up with them doing one of the Beachbody programs or drinking Shakeology because they actually see the benefits, that’s icing on the cake.

Beachbody, as a company, has the goal to “End the trend of obeisety!” I see this progression every day. In my free challenge groups, I hear about people who have stopped having to take medication for high blood pressure, diabetes, crones disease, Lymes disease, playing more with their kids, jogging a mile for the first time and generally feeling happier about their life.

What more could I ask for out of a career??!!

all natural baby wipes, baby wipe solution, Baby wipes, gentle baby wipes, homemade baby wipe solution, homemade baby wipes, olive oil baby wipes, organic baby wipes.

For some reason I have been seeing a lot of questions regarding homemade baby wipes recently. I make my own and it is soooo simple.
What you need….
Large mason jar
Water
Olive oil
Your baby’s bath soap
Old cotton receiving blankets or paper towels if you want disposable ones

That’s it! Fill jar with water and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and of soap. Cap and shake well. Cut up old receiving blanket into 6×6 squares.
Use an empty wipes container (I use a wipes warmer not plugged in). Put an handful of wipes in container and pour some wipes solution over it until desired wetness. Done! Store jar on changing table and wipes in easy reach to add when necessary. I use cloth wipes and wash with my cloth diapers but I used paper towels once when we went on vacation and they worked great too. I use the plastic travel wipe cases for the cloth and paper towels.

Give it a try! The olive oil is so good for healing and protecting the skin! Plus smells so good!

I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned it before, but I make memory quilts out of baby/toddler clothing as a side business. I have been making these for 10 years and love doing it.

Most moms love the idea but some can’t afford the price. I have decided to offer a smaller size now, 25×35 inch for $50. I am hoping that this will be more affordable. It only takes about 12 pieces or less if you include a receiving blanket, and then you have something that you can see and use instead of leaving those adorable outfits in the basement. I also make larger sizes. If your interested check out my ETSY site.

I also make other items that I list on there as well, Mason drinking glasses, knit scarves, baby quilts, wine cork coasters and seasonal items, like personalized stuffed bunnies. Check it out!

On the news today was a story about how they have discovered a chemical in baby wipes that is causing rash’s in some children.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/baby-wipe-chemical-tied-to-allergic-reactions-in-some-kids/

I have been using cloth diapers and homemade wipes since my youngest was born 16 months ago and swear by them!

My middle child ALWAYS had a diaper rash, it was horrible. I vowed with my third to make sure she would not go through that. That is when I decided to make my own baby wipes.

You can find nicely made baby wipes on ETSY but I just used some old flannel receiving blankets ( if you have a baby, you def have extra receiving blankets sitting around, who uses those anyway??)  I cut them into approx 6 inch squares. They fray on the edges but, ahhh, who cares, you use them to wipe up poop. You can also use paper towels that can be thrown away.  I use my heated wipe dispenser I got at my baby shower. I don’t plug it in. Here is what I use

image

I use a glass jar and add

1 1/2 cups warm water

1/2 Tbls all natural baby soap (use a soap that you already use in the tub, that way you know your baby will tolerate it)

1 tsp coconut oil

stir together until coconut oil is dissolved and then pour into wipe container, add wipes and you are ready to clean that baby bum!

Sometimes they are very wet, just add more wipes or I just squeeze out excess water as I use them.

So the gross part, what to do with the poop! I just dump what I can I to the toilet and rinse them in my utility sink, throw them in a covered plastic trash can and wash them every other day.

So there it is. The best way to keep your baby’s bum healthy so they can have more smiles!

Lesson learned

Baby fall, Baby falls, baby falls hits her head. Take baby to ER for fall, baby fell off bed, Baby fell off of bed, baby hit head, baby hitting her head, call, ER after baby falls, fall off bed, hits head, learning lesson, lessons, mom learns, toddler falls, we for baby hitting head

My 15 month old fell off my bed the other night onto the hardwood floor on her head.  My oldest, 14 and my 9 year old took the baby, Lyla to play in my bedroom. I had the fleeting thought, it may be a bad idea, but didn’t do anything about it. A little while later I heard a bang, I knew what it was before I heard the crying. the 14 yr old came out of the room carrying the hysterical baby. She said oh it wasn’t that bad, I grabbed her leg as she fell, bla bla bla…. I was furious! I said, “how could you let her fall??” “why weren’t you paying attention??”. I sent her to her room while I tried to calm the baby to no avail. I called her pediatrician. Since it was 7:30 on a Saturday we had to wait for the on call person to get back to us.

What I learned,

as long as there is no bleeding, vomiting, loss of consciousness, or disorientation and they fell from less than 2x their height…..no need to go to ER. Any of the above occur?? Straight to the ER!

Luckily after about 20 min she calmed dowN and seemed no worse for the wear.

Lesson I learned… It was my responsiblity to make sure she was safe not ultimately my 14 yr old daughters.  I had to tell her I was sorry and I was also to blame. I hate admitting guilt, lol.

Don’t overestimate your children’s abilities. don’t get me wrong, my 14 yr old, Taylor, is an amazing child. Smart, innovative, kind, generous and pretty much always does the right thing. She is not an adult or a mother. That’s it. I am and I should have not given her my job, which I did when I let her take the baby to play on the bed. Lesson Learned.
